KCA University seeks to recruit a highly motivated and skilled Locum Nurse to provide quality nursing services. The job holder will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care, maintaining the highest standards of safety, and ensuring effective collaboration with the healthcare team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and perform appropriate triage.
- Maintain accurate patient records of assessments and interventions.
- Provide health education to patients and monitor their condition to offer informed care.
- Ensure hygiene and safety standards are maintained in the healthcare facility.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic patient care.
- Perform all nursing procedures professionally and ethically as outlined in the procedure manual.
- Participate in student affairs functions as directed by the supervisor.
- Ensure all medical equipment is in good working condition, report malfunctions promptly, and facilitate timely calibration.
- Advocate for patient health and well-being, addressing concerns compassionately and efficiently.
- Comply with regulatory requirements in nursing practice and adhere to care standards.
- Handle medical emergencies effectively and promptly.
- Create a compassionate environment by providing psychological support to patients.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care interventions.
- Deliver emergency care in compliance with established guidelines.
- Assist in medical and surgical procedures as per protocols.
- Order, interpret, and utilize laboratory and diagnostic results for clinical decision-making.
- Prescribe and administer medications following guidelines.
- Conduct and apply research findings to improve patient care quality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration and practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accredited health facility or academic institution.
- Experience in an academic setting and knowledge of Health Management Systems (HMS) are added advantages.
