Job Summary:
The Night Manager I serves as the Manager on Duty during the overnight shift at the JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi. They are responsible for overseeing all property operations and ensuring the highest levels of hospitality and service are provided. The Night Manager represents property management in resolving guest or property-related situations and personally assists in resolving issues and completing tasks.

Candidate Profile:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.
    OR
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major; 2 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.

Core Work Activities:

Monitoring Property Operations:

  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all Guidelines to Operations.
  • Ensures employees are in proper uniform and properly groomed.
  • Ensures a safe working environment for employees.
  • Manages period-end inventories.

Supporting Profitability and Revenue Goals:

  • Reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement.
  • Assists in resolving guest issues and accounts receivable matters.
  • Monitors chargebacks and rebates, taking action to minimize them.
  • Ensures adherence to proper cash handling procedures.
  • Manages employee hours.
  • Works with the property’s leadership team to prevent the reoccurrence of guest issues.

Supporting Human Resources Activities:

  • Promotes participation in property safety programs.
  • Monitors employee attendance and records absences/tardiness.
  • Promotes teamwork and employee morale.
  • Keeps employees informed about operational procedures and standards.
  • Assists supervisors in handling employee performance issues.
  • Ensures employees have complete knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Encourages employee relations and creates incentives for better service and profit.
  • Assists operations manager in processing employee payroll weekly.
