Cytonn Investments is an alternative investment manager, with a captive real estate development capability. Cytonn has a unique strategy of coupling two compelling demand areas – the lack of high yielding investment products and the lack of institutional grade real estate. We distribute high yielding instruments to attract funding from investors, and we deploy that funding to investment grade, well planned and comprehensive real estate developments that are largely pre-sold.

We are looking for dynamic and hardworking individuals with strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills to join the Cytonn Young Leadership Program (CYLP) as Finance interns. Under the Cytonn Young Leaders Program, the successful candidates will undergo a rigorous 12 week training, aimed at equipping them with practical and competitive skills in the company’s various areas of operations which include 1. Asset Management, 2. Corporate and Real Estate & 3. Hospitality. The candidates will be exposed to challenging yet fulfilling career options with an emphasis on leadership, critical thinking and problem solving skills.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist in posting supplier invoices, preparing payments in the accounting system.
2. Keeping records and filing of transactions and relevant documentation.
3. Assisting in daily, weekly and monthly treasury operations and track key treasury operational benchmarks.
4. Bank and cash reconciliations and substantiate financial transactions with verified source documentation.
5. Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financials and accounting reports.
6. Assist in preparing and maintaining all the books of accounts. This includes assisting with month end closing processes and general journal entries.
7. Assisting with accurate and timely posting of documents of original entry into the accounting system
8. Assist with taxation compliance activities, which includes statutory filings and payment of PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, VAT and WHT.
9. Any other duties that may be assigned

REQUIREMENTS

1. A Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline with a minimum of Second Class Honors, Upper Division is essential.
2. Minimum of B+ in KCSE.
3. CPA(s) or its equivalent commencement of professional papers will be an added advantage.
4. Good communication (written & verbal) skills.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and good computer skills.
6. Strong numeracy, analytical, strategy and research skills.
7. Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Upon joining the company, the successful candidates will undertake both departmental and companywide orientation. In the Finance department, a customized training program will teach the graduates the fundamentals of financial statement analysis,  financial modelling and accounting. After the 12 weeks training, you will be ready to start your career in finance and accounting. Typically, you will be able to run the full accounting cycle including financial modelling, data recording and analysis, and financial reporting.

The successful candidates will be required to be mutli-talented and especially on team building skills, working with vendors/suppliers, real estate partners, financial institutions, among other stakeholders and provide support in building a harmonious work space.
