Type of Appointment: Special Short Term Graded Contract (9 months, with possibility of extension)

Core Functions / Responsibilities
- Manage financial resources by monitoring and controlling assets, reserves, funds, supplies, etc.
- Assist in preparing annual budget submissions and revisions, including estimating staff costs and other expenses.
- Extract and input data from various sources in financial or accounting systems.
- Provide guidance on accounting, budget, and financial-related issues.
- Assist in preparing the payroll by executing validity checks on monthly payroll results.
- Review all types of payments, ensuring they are duly authorized and supported.
- Create new Vendor Accounts in PRISM.
- Verify vendor claims for accuracy and conformance with IOM finance policies.
- Perform claim verifications to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized.
- Assist in preparing budget, accounting, financial, and statistical reports.
- Provide assistance with staff services such as travel, expense claims, document retrieval, etc.
- Ensure systematic completion of all posted payments and other accounting documents.
- Manage the Petty Cash of the office.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- High School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related fields with three years of relevant professional experience.
Experience:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook); previous experience in SAP is an advantage.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize paperwork methodically.
- Discreet, detail- and client-oriented, patient, and willing to learn new things.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills:
- Knowledge of MS Office products and good computer literacy skills are required.
Languages:
- Required: Fluency in English and Kiswahili (oral and written).
- Desirable: Working knowledge of French or any other UN Official language is advantageous.
