A sizeable water service provider is looking for a suitable, qualified and experienced candidate to fill the position of Technical Services Manager.

 

Main Purpose of Job: The incumbent will be responsible for the Company’s effective and efficient utilization of resources through development of production methods, reduction of equipment downtime and continuous improvement of water processes in order to meet stakeholder needs.

KEY DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Reviewing and developing production plans and strategies to establish performance standards.
  • Monitoring the implementation of production plans and improvement programs.
  • Directing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring and managing the company’s technical operations and maintenance of infrastructure
  • Ensuring that the water treatment and quality meets WHO standards.
  • Developing departmental strategies, targets, policies, procedures and plans to facilitate achievement of overall company’s objectives.
  • Steer the development of departmental policies, procedures and action plans in line with company mission and objectives and ensure that technical audits are carried out on time and remedial actions taken.
  • Ensure development of departmental staff through training and motivation.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to ensure provision of high-quality services to customers.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice in the acquisition of contractors and consultants for major works.
  • Oversee preparation of comprehensive departmental reports and budgets to the CEO for decision making.
  • Development of system for reduction of non-revenue water.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BSc. in Civil or Water Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a busy commercial utility environment with 4 years being in senior supervisory level in a large and demanding public utility. Experience in management of water Company will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of relevant professional body or related institution and in good standing.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities, proper experience in dealing with change in an organization. Knowledge in project management will be an added advantage.
  • Have a record of proper performance, self-driven, result oriented and possess excellent public relation and customer oriented.
  • Must be conversant with designs, implementation and operations of water and sanitation infrastructure and management information systems in water sector.
  • Must be familiar with the reform programs in commercial and public settings and demonstrable through understanding of the national goals, policies and development objectives, including the Kenya Vision 2030.
  • Must comply with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

TERMS AND CONDITON OF SERVICE

The position of the Technical Services Manager will be offered to the successful candidate and on a Five (5) year renewable Contract based on satisfactory performance, defined targets and Evaluation by the Board of Directors.

RENUMERATION

Remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the job and the experience of the individual will be negotiated with the best evaluated candidate
