The County Government of Turkana is seeking dynamic, result-oriented, and qualified Kenyan citizens to fill two critical leadership positions:
Duties and Responsibilities
The County Secretary will serve as the Secretary to the County Executive Committee and Head of the County Public Service. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic policy direction to improve service delivery in the County Public Service.
- Arranging and recording the business and minutes of the County Executive Committee.
- Conveying decisions of the County Executive Committee and tracking their implementation.
- Establishing collaborations with national government ministries, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ensuring efficient management of resources in the County.
- Overseeing the implementation of National and County Government policies.
- Coordinating activities across County Government departments.
- Providing direction to County public officers.
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the Governor or County Executive Committee.
General Requirements for Both Positions
Applicants must:
- Be Kenyan citizens.
- Have at least a first degree from a recognized university in Kenya (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
- Possess at least 10 years of experience in management and administration in the public or private sector.
- Demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, and a result-oriented approach.
- Be conversant with the Constitution of Kenya and Devolution Laws.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.
- Be members of a registered professional body.
- Show the ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment and under pressure.
- Demonstrate knowledge in human resource management, financial management, and ICT.
- For Chairperson applicants: Knowledge of Turkana County and its complexities is required.
