County Government Of Nyeri Hiring Enterprise Development Fund

The County Government of Nyeri is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Board Chairperson and Board Members for the Enterprise Development Fund (EDF), a loan facility supporting small businesses in line with the County Enterprise Development Fund Act of 2017, as amended in 2018.

Available Positions:

The EDF Board will include the following representatives:

  1. Business Community Representative: Must be a member of a registered business association within Nyeri County.
  2. Youth Representative: Must be a member of an active, registered youth group or association in the county.
  3. Co-operatives Representative: Must be a member of a leading cooperative within Nyeri County.
  4. Persons Living with Disability (PLWD) Representative: Must be registered with the National Council of Persons with Disabilities.

Requirements for Applicants:

To qualify, candidates must:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen.
  • Hold a diploma in a business-related field from a recognized Kenyan institution.
  • Have operated a micro or small enterprise in Nyeri County for at least three (3) years.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.

Disqualifications:

Applicants must not:

  • Have been convicted of a criminal offense resulting in imprisonment for more than six months.
  • Be a member of a governing body of any political party.
  • Have been previously removed from public office due to constitutional or legal violations.
  • Be an undischarged bankrupt.
  • Have been charged with a constitutional or legal violation.

Functions of the EDF Board:

Board members will be responsible for:

  • Formulating policies for the administration, regulation, and management of the fund.
  • Establishing criteria for loan appraisal, approving loan disbursement, and setting repayment conditions.
  • Implementing enforcement mechanisms for loan repayment defaults.
  • Mobilizing resources to support the fund’s objectives.
  • Establishing and maintaining links with similar organizations inside and outside the county.
  • Organizing an annual forum for beneficiaries to provide information and guidance.
  • Submitting annual operational and performance reports to the County Executive Committee Member for Trade.
