The County Government of Bomet, in compliance with Section 155(5) of the Public Finance Management Act, 2012, and Regulations 167-170 of the Public Finance Management (County Governments) Regulations, 2015, invites applications from qualified and competent individuals for the following positions in the County Executive Audit Committee:
Roles and Responsibilities of the Audit Committee
The Audit Committee’s primary functions include:
- Supporting the Accounting Officer in managing risks, control, and governance, while ensuring these responsibilities remain with the management of the county government entity.
- Following up on the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations.
Qualifications and Requirements
1. Chairperson, County Executive Audit Committee (1 Position)
Eligibility:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Have at least 10 years of experience in a senior-level position in the private or public sector.
- Be a member in good standing of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
- Demonstrate knowledge of risk management, auditing, and accounting in the public service or devolved government systems.
- Exhibit integrity, professional competence, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
2. Members, County Executive Audit Committee (3 Positions)
Eligibility:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Procurement, Human Resource Management, Law, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Possess at least 5 years of senior-level experience in the private or public sector.
- Have a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, best practices, and emerging issues in areas such as accounting, auditing, risk management, and financial systems.
- Be knowledgeable about government operations and financial management.
- Demonstrate integrity, professional competence, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Disqualification Criteria:
Applicants are ineligible if they:
- Are employees of the County Government of Bomet or hold political office.
- Have served as employees or agents of businesses that engaged in transactions with the County Government of Bomet in the last two years.
Terms of Employment
- Part-time engagement.
- Appointments are for three years, with eligibility for one renewal term based on performance.
Remuneration
Members will receive allowances for attending committee meetings as per guidelines by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
