Key Purpose Statement

This role is an imperative for the successful operation of the FLO system / Distribution Planning System. This position ensures an insight into the daily operations by interacting with the drivers to gather planned versus actual trip feedback on each route

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that allocation of resources agree with real time execution – Correct vehicle – Shipment – Driver
  2. Work with Distribution to ensure that correct vehicles leave in correct sequence. Using systems to follow plans and highlight where plan is not executed i.e. departure time, out of sequence deliveries, customer turn-around times
  3. On an ongoing basis, extract information from the FLO / Distribution planning and satellite tracking systems for the purpose of plan execution
  4. At any given point need to be able to inform customers of their order whereabouts. Should be able to inform external customers of non or late delivery and internal customer of their inability to deliver
  5. Conduct driver debriefs after route completion to identify noncompliance to standards, poor driver performance, no adherence to route schedule and unsafe behaviour. Summarise results into reporting format for action to be taken and master data updates by FLO planners
  6. Follow up on action taken by Team Leaders and Managers for instances where unacceptable driver behaviour had been highlighted for action. Report back on exceptions to Logistics Manager
  7. Collection and control of OBI devices after drivers have returned from their route (if applicable)

Experience

  1. Minimum 1-2 years’ logistics experience
  2. Experience in logistics and tracking software systems
  3. Additional experience and/or exposure in sales
  4. Knowledge of logistics operations in FMCG organisations
