About Bukura Agricultural College Bukura Agricultural College (BAC) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. BAC specializes in middle-level training in agriculture and related fields, with a mission to foster agricultural excellence and innovation. To further its mission, the college seeks to recruit a self-motivated, dynamic, and results-oriented individual to fill the position of Principal/Chief Executive Officer. Role Summary The Principal/CEO will be responsible to the Board for implementing the college’s strategic goals, managing its resources, and ensuring the day-to-day administration and operations align with the institution’s mission. This leadership role involves providing strategic direction, fostering stakeholder relationships, and driving the college’s performance in line with its mandate under the Science, Technology, and Innovation Act No. 28 of 2013.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Strategy
- Serve as the accounting officer for BAC. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure achievement of strategic objectives. Develop and recommend annual business plans to the Board. Ensure effective management structures, including succession planning, are in place. Serve as a link between the Board and management.
2. Financial and Resource Management
- Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and establish robust internal controls. Ensure prudent management and accountability of college resources. Sign government and donor grant agreements on behalf of BAC. Spearhead income-generating initiatives, including market identification for farm produce and short-term projects.
3. Governance and Stakeholder Engagement
- Convene and serve as secretary to the Board in consultation with the Chairperson. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities and development partners. Represent the college in engagements with strategic partners to mobilize resources.
4. Operational Oversight
- Review and approve all research publications for internal and public use. Develop and implement human resource management and administrative policies. Monitor performance management systems to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Ensure compliance with statutory financial audits and address recommendations.
5. Quality Assurance and Innovation
- Oversee the implementation of efficient systems to optimize resource utilization. Enhance the college’s corporate image through effective stakeholder engagement and communication. Drive initiatives to maintain BAC’s standards of excellence in agricultural training and innovation.

- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities. Leadership skills with a proven ability to mobilize resources. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in IT applications for operational efficiency. Negotiation skills for fostering partnerships and collaborations.
Remuneration The position offers a competitive salary structure starting from Ksh 170,000 to Ksh 250,000 per month, with other allowances applicable as per the college’s Human Resource manual.
