Job Summary: The Relationship Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring the implementation of customer service activities and processes to deliver on approved operational plans effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Growth and Retention (50%)
- Develop business relationships with companies.
- Build close working relationships with internal teams and external key business influencers.
- Identify cross-sale opportunities and introduce leads to other functions within Absa.
- Implement activities to deliver value-added products and services, increasing income and revenue.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts with customers.
- Make sound commercial judgments to retain and develop the customer base.
- Customer Contact (30%)
- Manage and respond to customer requirements, queries, and complaints.
- Establish, build, and maintain ongoing relationships with customers.
- Develop a deep understanding of customers’ businesses and requirements.
- Provide evidence of customer demand to influence new products/enhancements.
- Resolve challenges customers face when using Point of Sale terminals.
- Maintain and update knowledge on all products and services offered by Absa.
- Planning and Execution (15%)
- Develop a personal sales plan to achieve targeted objectives and goals.
- Manage day-to-day activities to maximize return on resources.
- Keep updated on customer activities, challenges, and demands.
- Evaluate portfolio profitability and implement the culling process as needed.
- Governance, Control, and Risk (5%)
- Ensure compliance with Bank controls, policies, service standards, and procedures.
- Complete mandatory training on time and understand it within given deadlines.
- Escalate, investigate, report, and fix all risk events or control failures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Ensure successful independent conformance assurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in sales with a proven track record of high performance.
- Extensive knowledge of Absa products and services.
- Understanding of acquiring industry dynamics, interchange, and competitor solutions.
- Familiarity with the Business-to-Business sector and industry trends.
- Working knowledge of local and international law legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge of card scheme policies, acquiring systems, and card processing.
- Proven success in negotiation within a corporate environment.
- Knowledge of relevant third-party suppliers and industry-related developments is an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Absa Group strategies both locally and overseas.
- Fully aware of industry trends and competitor solutions.
- Knowledge of the Business-to-Business Financial Services Sector and the Card Acquiring industry is advantageous but not essential.
