8 Tips to look for Work In 2024

There’s no reason to sit at home feeling sad because you don’t have a job.

There are lots of creative ways you can find work, so use these handy tips, get out there and start looking!

1. Use the internet and social media pages, for example Facebook job forums, WhatsApp Group Job Forums , #Ikokazike on X (formerly Twitter) , Telegram Job Groups, LinkedIn etc to look for job-postings or to post your own CV.

2. Answer adverts in the career sections of newspapers.

3. Send your CV to employment agencies and follow up with them.

4. Ask former teachers, family members, friends and professionals you know for job leads or references.

5. Knock on the door of any employer, factory or business that interests you, whether they are known to have a vacancy or not, even if they take your CV for future reference and opportunities.

6. By yourself, using the internet, identify fields that interest you. Contact employers in those fields to see if they’re hiring for the kind of work you can do.

7. Do what is called the “creative approach to job-hunting”. By doing your homework on yourself, to figure out what your favorite and best skills are, you can sell yourself better in future interviews.

8. Network, network, network. Your career network should include anyone who can help you with a job search or career move. It can include past and present friends with similar interests, or acquaintances you have met through social media, such as Facebook.

Your network can also include family, neighbours, and anyone who might have a relevant connection.

Remember to sell yourself and make a good impression, so they can remember and recommend you should a job opportunity come up.
