Pharmaceutical Technologist

Main Duties

  •  Accurate and timely posting of all pharmacy computer transactions for billing purposes
  •  Carrying out timely ordering for stock replenishment to the pharmacy store to maintain optimal stock levels
  •  Compounding, re-packaging and dilutions of drugs according to laid down guidelines
  •  Providing drug information to patients, doctors, nurses and other medical staff
  •  Participating in regular drug expiry, monitoring the pharmacy to identify and document items with expiry of less than six (6) months
  •  Liaises with user departments to ensure adequate stocking and proper storage of emergency drugs and intravenous infusions and minimize losses due to expiries and damages
  •  Participating in quarterly stock take exercise and ensuring timely explanation of stock variances
  •  Participating in quality management system activities including documentation, analysis and reporting for continued improvement of services
  •  Training pharmaceutical technologist interns
  •  Entering prescription orders into the computer and making labels appropriately
  •  Documenting dispensing errors and taking measures to minimize them
  •  Documenting adverse drug reactions
  •  Receiving drugs and verifying against the stock transfer printout
  •  Shelving items appropriately
  •  Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required
  •  Any other duty assigned

Required Qualifications for the Position

  •  Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology
  •  Registered/Enrolled with The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) with a current Practicing License
  •  Above 5 years of experience
  •  Computer Proficient

Unit Manager

Main Duties

  •  Monitoring standards of nursing care and other support services to ensure delivery of quality patient care
  •  Developing and implementing unit budget and ensuring operations are within the budget
  •  Addressing issues and concerns within the section to ensure both internal and external customer satisfaction
  •  Submitting monthly activity reports to the management
  •  Updating staff on health and safety requirements to ensure a safe environment and compliance with the statutory requirements
  •  Liaising with various experts, consultants and section heads to achieve departmental and institutional goals
  •  Ensuring adequate supply and proper management of staff, consumables and assets to maximize efficiency and cost controls
  •  Ensuring effective infection control measures
  •  In liaison with the Security Manager ensuring adequate security at the premises throughout and reporting any incidents
  •  Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required

Staff management and development

  •  Ensuring proper induction of new staff for smooth adaptation and correct practice
  •  Fostering teamwork among staff
  •  Liaising with the Director of Nursing Services, relevant HODs and Head of Human Resources on disciplinary issues, complaints, improvement, performance appraisal and motivation
  •  Liaising with the Director of Nursing Services, the CPE, and other relevant HODs and the Head of Human Resources on identified training needs of the Nursing staff and initiating staff development programme

Patient care

  •  Liaising with the clinical team and other departments on patient care
  •  Supervising and guiding nursing staff on effective patient care
  •  Any other duty as assigned

Required Qualifications for the Position

  •  Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nurses (KRCHN)
  •  Higher National Diploma in Critical Care Nursing (KRCCN) or Accident & Emergency (KRAEN)
  •  BSc Nursing
  •  Certificate in Counselling
  •  Computer Proficiency
  •  Registered with NCK with a valid practising license
  •  Minimum experience of 5 years in Nursing

Nephrology Nurse

Main Duties

  •  Assessing patient’s condition and planning for their care
  •  Administering dialysis to the patients taking utmost care ensuring procedure is carried out safely and effectively
  •  Ensuring patient’s nursing needs such as physical, psychological and mental are attended to
  •  Assisting physicians in carrying out medical procedures
  •  Monitoring, recording and reporting changes in patient’s symptoms; maintaining accurate reports on patients
  •  Ensuring all renal machines, monitors and other equipment in the unit are working properly
  •  Receiving and discharging patients to and from the unit
  •  Administering intravenous fluids and medications
  •  Requesting for diagnostic tests
  •  Responding to emergencies and life-saving situations
  •  Maintaining safe and clean working environment by adhering to set standards and procedures
  •  Providing support and education to the patient’s families on various topics pertaining to health of the patient
  •  Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required
  •  Any other duty assigned from time to time

Required Qualifications for the Position

  •  Higher National Diploma in Nephrology (KRNN)
  •  Diploma in KRCHN/KRN/M
  •  BSc Nursing
  •  Computer Proficiency
  •  Registered with NCK with a valid practicing license
  •  Minimum experience of 2 years in Nursing

Staff Nurse

Main Duties

  •  Planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care to patients on their individual needs
  •  Ensuring patients’ nursing needs such as physical, psychological and mental needs are attended to
  •  Providing individually tailored care to patients
