The hospital seeks to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill the following vacant positions at Upperhill, Nairobi located at Mara Road:

SHL/HRD/01/07/23: PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIST

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The job holder will be responsible for dispensing and procuring of medical products and supplies used in the organization pharmacy. The role will also involve ensuring secure and proper storage, distribution of medicinal products and supplies throughout the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Checking all prescriptions for medications from medical doctors and other health professionals, and dispensing the drugs to patients ensuring accuracy and appropriateness for individual patient safety.
  • Take an active role in ordering and procurement of drugs and other medical supplies in liaison with the Pharmacist in charge and Finance department.
  • Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled (Pharmacists are legally responsible for any dispensing errors).
  • Providing advice on the dosage of medicines and the most appropriate form of medication, for example, tablet, injection, ointment or inhaler.
  • Arranging and labeling of drugs in the pharmacy in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic working environment.
  • Advising patients of any adverse side effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments.
  • Liaising with doctors about prescriptions when necessary.
  • Ensuring medicines are stored appropriately and securely.
  • Keeping a register of drugs for legal and stock control purposes;
  • Answering questions about medicines/drugs from within the organization and clients.
  • Keeping up to date with current pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses.
  • Actively participate in periodic stock taking for the pharmacy and ensuring stock rotation to minimize stock losses through expiries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and as the profession demands.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized medical training institution.
  • Be registered by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
  • Must have a valid practicing license.
  • Proficiency in computer application skills.

SHL/HRD/02/07/23: MATERNITY NURSE IN CHARGE

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Ensure high quality maternity services to all patients through provision of effective nursing services. Successful candidates will oversee labour ward, antenatal, postnatal, and newborn unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implement the highest possible standard of client care by participating in setting up of the hospital standard protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensure quality critical care services for new born infants (NICU)
  • Provide leadership and direction as well as implementation of hospital objectives within the maternity units
  • Motivate and empower staff to perform to their optimum
  • Participate in the budget process and manage inventory of all equipment, linen, supplies and other items within the maternity unit
  • Effective monitoring and evaluation of patients admitted in the maternity ward.
  • Administer medication and perform medical procedures within prevailing Hospital guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensure an outstanding client experience.
  • Counsel and prepare mothers for labour, childbirth and postpartum.
  • Monitor and manage pregnant mothers during labour and childbirth.

  • Provide care for mothers and new borns after birth.

  • Ensure maintenance and availability of medical equipment in the doctors’ and nursing room.
  • Professionally and timely prepare and present regular nursing reports.
  • Assist in the formulation, review and implementation of relevant policies and procedures e.g., infection prevention etc.
  • Plan, prepare and participate in health talks, presentations, and Continuous Medical Education (CME) events.
  • Plan for and participate in clinical audits in maternity and other departments
  • Formulate comprehensive nurses’ duty rosters to ensure 24hr coverage of the Maternity Ward.
  • Cover the hospital as required during the day or night

SHL/HRD/03/07/23: CRITICAL CARE (ICU/HDU) NURSES

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Job holder responsibility is to provide advanced nursing services and patients care in the ICU and HDU through research, training and advice from other team members following the laid out procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring that the critical care area are clean and in the right conditions to provide the conducive environment needed by patients
  • Ensuring that the critical care areas have all the machinery, equipment and materials needed to provide critical care to patients admitted in the hospital
  • Set up and monitor medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors, mechanical ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices, and identify malfunctioning equipment or devices, and report the same to the biomedical engineering section of the hospital.
  • Receive patients in critical conditions that are referred to the critical care centers and book them in for advanced care and attention in the hospital.
  • Deliver quality nursing care in accordance with the set Nursing Standards and as per the policies and procedures of the hospital.
  • Ensure the provision of quality critical care nursing services to the admitted critically ill patients, based on assessment data or identified needs in the hospital.
  • Monitor patients for their progress and changes in status and indications of health conditions such as sepsis or shock and institute appropriate interventions together with medical specialists in the hospital.
  • Administer the prescribed therapeutic procedures based upon patients’ clinical status and assess patients’ pain levels or sedation requirements in the critical care centers of the hospital.
  • Conduct pulmonary assessments to identify abnormal respiratory patterns or breathing sounds that indicate medical conditions of patients in the critical care centers of the hospital.
  • Monitor patients’ fluid intake and outlet to detect any emerging problems such as fluid and electrolyte imbalances among patients in the critical care centers of the hospital.
  • Document patients’ medical histories and assessment findings, compile and analyze data obtained from monitoring or diagnostic tests in the critical care centers of the hospital.
  • Coordinate patient care conferences and participate in the development, review, or evaluation of critical care nursing practice protocols in the critical care centers of the hospital.
  • Mentor and guide other junior nursing officers, interns and students in the critical care centers of the hospital.

SHL/HRD/04/07/23: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The job holder will be responsible to lead the development and execution of the hospital’s business development strategy with an aim of growing and sustaining the business by studying economic indicators, identifying customers and their current and future needs and taking action to implement the plan and meet the set sales targets. Responsible ensuring highest possible standards and quality of customer care for patients and customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Formulate a marketing plan and propose various Marketing strategies for Savannah’s services for growth and business sustainability
  • To oversee and develop a sales and marketing plan and budget for the hospital in line with the overall hospital strategy.
  • Develop and implement effective customer relations and retention strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Coordinate team effort in the preparation and submission of tenders and proposals.
  • Identify marketing opportunities by identifying consumer requirements, defining
    market, forecasting projected business, establishing targeted market share
  • Be accountable for all the publishing material of the organization namely: information booklet, leaflets, brochures, and other related materials to enhance marketing. These shall include the content, design, creativity and proof –– reading.
