The Makueni County Public Service Board, established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012, is committed to recruiting and managing qualified personnel to support Makueni County’s public service delivery. The Board invites applications from competent, skilled, and motivated individuals to fill several key positions within the county’s Department of Health Services, aimed at enhancing healthcare services for county residents. POSITION OVERVIEW

1. Senior Information Communication Technology (ICT) Officer

  • Job Group: L
  • Position: 1
  • Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
  • Salary Scale: Kshs. 44,400–61,110 per month (Incremental based on experience)

Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior ICT Officer will be responsible for overseeing ICT systems analysis, design, and programming in collaboration with users, ensuring effective ICT support across the county’s health facilities. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and maintaining ICT systems.
  • Enforcing ICT standards and policies.
  • Supervising system documentation and providing ICT-related advice.
  • Overseeing installation, certification, and maintenance of ICT equipment.
  • Coordinating problem logging and preventive maintenance.
  • Assisting in feasibility studies and training junior officers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business IT, Information Sciences, or related ICT discipline.
  • Six years of relevant ICT experience.
  • Kenyan citizenship and evidence of community engagement.

2. Information Communication Technology (ICT) Officer III

  • Job Group: H
  • Position: 1
  • Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
  • Salary Scale: Kshs. 26,900–35,380 per month

Duties and Responsibilities
The ICT Officer III will provide ICT support and training to users, as well as assisting with system implementation. Other duties include:

  • Writing and testing simple computer programs.
  • Conducting ICT equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Monitoring and reporting equipment performance.

Requirements

  • KCSE mean grade C with C- in Mathematics and English.
  • Diploma in Computer Science, Electronics, or equivalent.
  • Two years of relevant experience and proficiency in digital communication tools.

3. Senior Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services / Pharmaceutical Specialist I

  • Job Group: Q
  • Position: 1
  • Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities
This role involves coordinating pharmaceutical services, developing SOPs for pharmaceutical practices, and managing pharmaceutical inventories. Key tasks include:

  • Researching medicine utilization.
  • Managing donated medical supplies.
  • Coordinating work plans, training, and capacity building for pharmacy personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy; Master’s in Clinical Pharmacy or related field.
  • Registration as a Pharmacist with a valid practicing license.
  • Six years of experience and SLDP certificate.

4. Senior Assistant Director of Medical Services / Medical Specialist I

  • Job Group: Q
  • Positions: 9
  • Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Medical Specialist will diagnose and treat patients, offer specialized clinical care, and coordinate health education. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting disease surveillance.
  • Implementing health projects and maintaining health information systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (M.B.Ch.B); Master’s in a relevant specialization.
  • Registration and valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
  • Six years of experience, SLDP certification, and managerial skills.

5. Assistant Director of Medical Services / Medical Specialist II

  • Job Group: P
  • Positions: 3
  • Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Medical Services will provide patient reviews, manage clinics and surgeries, and support community health initiatives. Other duties include:

  • Supervising interns and handling medico-legal duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Medicine and Surgery (M.B.Ch.B); Master’s is advantageous.
  • Registration with a practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
  • Four years of experience, SMC certificate, and managerial capability.

6. Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services / Pharmaceutical Specialist II

  • Job Group: P
  • Position: 1
  • Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services will manage inventory for medical supplies and provide education on appropriate medicine use. Other tasks include:

  • Reporting adverse drug reactions and overseeing pharmaceutical services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy; Master’s preferred.
  • Valid Pharmacist practicing license.
  • Three years of experience and SMC certificate.
