The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) is a pivotal state agency, established pursuant to the Data Protection Act, 2019, and designated under Article 260 (q) of the Constitution of Kenya. Our mission is to regulate the processing of personal data, ensure the protection of privacy for individuals, and uphold data processing standards as set out in Section 25 of the Act. As the guardians of personal data, we strive to enforce compliance, provide remedies for data subjects, and maintain a robust legal and institutional framework to safeguard personal data against misuse.

To strengthen our team and enhance our capability to deliver on this mandate, the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner is excited to announce the recruitment for the following positions:

  6. Data Protection Officer II – Registration
  7. Data Protection Officer II – Inspection & Compliance

Roles and Responsibilities:

Office Assistant: Support daily office operations, handle clerical tasks, and assist in organizing office records and environments to enhance operational efficiency.

Driver II: Responsible for transporting staff and official materials securely and efficiently, managing vehicle maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with traffic and safety regulations.

Assistant Records Management Officer II: Assist in the management and organization of records according to statutory requirements, supporting the flow of information and safeguarding sensitive data.

Assistant Office Administrator II: Support administrative functions, coordinate meetings and manage office supplies, ensuring smooth operation of the Commissioner’s office.

Data Protection Officer II: Oversee the processing of personal data within assigned sectors, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and advising on data protection practices.

Data Protection Officer II – Registration: Handle the registration of data controllers and processors, ensuring they comply with legal obligations under the Data Protection Act.

Data Protection Officer II – Inspection & Compliance: Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with data protection standards, address violations, and enhance overall data security measures.

General Responsibilities for All Positions:

  • Uphold the principles of data protection and privacy as mandated by the Data Protection Act, 2019.
  • Collaborate effectively within teams to promote a culture of compliance and transparency.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development to remain proficient in data protection regulations and practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure that the rights of data subjects are protected.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that enhance data protection within Kenya.
