1. Director of Development and Alumni Affairs (1 Post)
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • A Master’s degree in Economics, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Development Studies or closely related discipline.
  • Must be registered with relevant professional organizations where applicable, such as the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK) or Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, with at least two (2) years in a senior management position.
  • Proven experience in resource mobilization and financial management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the planning, funding, and management of construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience in the monitoring and implementation of strategic plans.
  • A track record of leadership and the ability to work effectively within a team to achieve organizational goals.
  • Must be a Christian in good and regular standing.
Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Development and Alumni Affairs shall:

  1. Develop and implement programs pertaining to areas of planned giving, endowment funds, foundations and donor funds in accordance with the missions, aims and objectives as well as the strategic plan of the University.
  2. Monitor and coordinate the infrastructural development of the University based on the Master Plan, including coordination of site visits, as well as receiving progress reports on ongoing construction projects.
  3. Develop systems that will facilitate the preparation and submission of grant proposals from both academic and non-academic staff.
  4. Mobilize, build and strengthen the network of individuals, alumni, corporations and organizations that give to the development of UEAB.
  5. Act as liaison officer between funding sources and the University and maintain personal contacts with representatives for funding sources.
  6. Work as a steward of foundations and corporations that have provided support for institution projects.
  7. Act as liaison officer between Government and the University on matters affecting the UEAB community.
  8. Ensure the production of materials and activities intended for fund raising.
  9. Supervise the development and alumni affairs support staff as well volunteers in implementation of development and alumni affairs programs.
  10. Liaise with the Administration on the utilization of donated funds, timely completion of projects, accurate documentation and prompt reporting as per agreements with donors.
  11. Process the delivery of deferred and presented gifts for the use and benefit of UEAB.
  12. Liaise with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor-Academics and the Deputy Vice-ChancellorFinance and Administration on the equipment and facility needs and developing funding requests to relevant donors.
  13. Conduct research and establish collaborations with embassies and missions that will help in development of funding requests from various departments of the University including funding for needy and worthy students.
  14. Initiate development projects that link the University to the community and industry.
  15. Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Vice Chancellor

Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  1. Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology or its equivalent from an accredited University;
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology or its equivalent from an accredited university; At least three (3) years’ experience in a college or university setting or equivalent position;
  3. Certification in Counseling Psychology will be an added advantage.
  4. Be proficient in the use of computers especially Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Outlook, E-Learning and Internet.
  5. A Christian in good and regular standing.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Serve as member of some university committees;
  2. Counsel students to use appropriate dress code or attire while at the university.
  3. Maintain discipline and decorum among students and eliminate Public Display of Affection on the university campus;
  4. Encourage all students to attend chaplaincy services as part of the university appointments;
  5. Constantly track students’ activities on social media sites, obtain critical information about students’ discussions groups and report to the DVCSAS of suspicious activities;
  6. Provide solutions to student complaints, questions and concerns;
  7. Coordinate and work closely with the Residence Deans in day-to-day activities that relate to the students who may need counseling;
  8. Supervise and ensure effective enforcement and student compliance to the university rules and regulations
  9. Study student issues and problems and advise the DVCSAS and the Resident Deans accordingly.
  10. Advice parents who have concerns about their children who are students at the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton;
  11. To help students develop skills in the areas of personal/social growth, educational planning, and career development that will contribute to their growth as mature and responsible members of society.
  12. Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual university counseling and guidance plan in accordance with set standards.
  13. Implement the university counseling and guidance program curriculum.
  14. Provide individual and group counseling and guidance including guiding and counseling students through the development of personal, social, educational, and career plans.
  15. Consult and collaborate with parents/guardians, faculty and staff about understanding and meeting

the special needs of students and makes appropriate referrals.

  1. Provide orientation for new students, parents/guardians, and faculty.
  2. Provide appropriate appraisal services to assist lecturers, parents/guardians, and students.
  3. Administer tests and analyzes and interpret test results to provide information about educational, career, and personal/ social needs.
  4. Assist with placement and follow-up services for students
  5. Assist students in selecting programs of study to enhance career planning.
  6. Provide information and resource services for students, parents/ guardians, and faculty.
  7. Assist students in building self-esteem and developing decision-making, problem-solving, and positive human relations skills.
  8. Plan with lecturers, principal, parents/guardians, and students’ steps for modifying student behavior.
  9. Provide data concerning students’ needs to determine curricula development.
  10. Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the University administration.
