The Automaton Pokemon, Golett, is the next Spotlight Hour headliner in Pokemon Go. Check out all the ways you can catch it, plus how to evolve it into Golurk, and whether or not they can be Shiny.
The small and somewhat cute Golett was added to the Pokemon franchise with Gen 5 and quickly drew players’ attention due to its unique type combination.
This Ground/Ghost creature is one of the four that have this type combo in the entire Pokedex – its evolution is clearly another of them. So, if you want a Golett or Golurk in your team, check how to catch it in Pokemon Go.
How to get Golett in Pokemon Go
Even though it has been part of Niantic’s mobile game since 2019, Golett is still considered a rare Pokemon, mainly because there’s currently one way trainers can find it:
- As a wild encounter (increased spawns during the May 27 Spotlight Hour)
Previously, players could also find it as a Tier 3 Raid Boss. However, the latest Raid rotations don’t feature this bulky creature.
Because of its elusiveness, you can use Incense to boost the number of Pokemon that spawn at your location or check the Nearby feature to see if a Golett has appeared at a nearby landmark.
How to evolve Golett into Golurk
Golett is part of a two-member family, which means it only has one evolution. Luckily for trainers, the process is very straightforward, as it doesn’t require any special items or requirements, just Candy.
To evolve Golett into Golurk, players will need to collect 50 Candy.
Golett Candy
With Golett spawning nonstop during the upcoming Spotlight Hour, players shouldn’t have trouble gathering the required amount of Candy.
However, to do it faster, remember to use Pinap Berries when catching Golett to increase the amount you receive per catch. Then, transfer the Golett you don’t need to Professor Willow for some more.
You can also set the Pokemon as your Buddy and take it for long walks, or trade some Rare Candy for more Golett Candy.
Golett CP in Pokemon Go
Golett’s CP in the wild will vary, even more so if it’s boosted by a weather condition. So, check all the CP ranges this creature can have in the wild.
CP range once captured | 630 – 679 |
Sunny/Fog weather CP range | 788 – 849 |
Golett max CP (Level 50) | 1344 |
Golett stats, moves, resistances & weaknesses

Can Golett be Shiny?
Yes, Golett can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special variation was added to the game back in 2023, at the start of the Pokemon Go Fest: New York City event.
Shiny Golett might be hard to recognize at the beginning, as the differences between it and its regular form are not that obvious. Its usual two-tone blue body gets darker with light and dark grey areas taking over. Plus, its yellow details on its eyes and chest change to lime green.
If a Shiny Golett is evolved, players can get a Shiny Golurk, also with light and grey tones, with lime green details on its eyes and chest.
It’s worth noting, though, that the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon are very low, as there’s no special technique or method to secure an encounter. The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is to hunt as many Golett as they can until they come across what they’re looking for.
Remember to take advantage of the upcoming Spotlight Hour to see if you can find a Shiny one.
That’s everything you need to know about Golett in Pokemon Go. Don’t forget to check out the latest Pokemon Go events, including the current Community Day and Spotlight Hours.
