There’s a good chance Rockstar has already revealed a key story moment for GTA 6 judging by the company’s history when it comes to trailers and promotional material.
Only two trailers have been released for GTA 6 so far ahead of the game’s May 26, 2026 launch, but they could contain an extremely big spoiler.
Like all of Rockstar’s projects, the studio has kept all things GTA 6 extremely close to their chest, but that doesn’t mean they’re not afraid to use key moments from their titles in trailers.
And this trend could very well have already continued with GTA VI and fans just don’t realize what scene is of utmost importance yet. Let’s break it down.
Rockstar Games hides huge moments in trailers – could GTA 6 be the same?
In a May 29 post on Reddit, GTA 6 fans recalled how Rockstar revealed story bits in GTA 4, Bully, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
In GTA 4, protagonist Niko Bellic is in Liberty City trying to find Darko Brevic – a man who betrayed his squad in the Yugoslav wars. In the trailer, you can see Niko threatening a seemingly generic man, but in actuality, it was Darko.
In the RDR2 trailer, Arthur is seen doing a shakedown on Thomas Downes. This interaction is actually pinnacle to the story, because Thomas ends up spitting on Arthur, giving him tuberculosis.
Meanwhile, on X, YouTuber DarkViperAU noted that a piece of GTA 5 artwork actually showcased the end of the story.
“Rockstar showed the end of GTA 5 in promotional art. They called it ‘The Trunk’, but no one had any idea the significance until the end of the game. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something similar with GTA 6,” he said.
Now, given how these segments have been portrayed in trailers, a big story moment for GTA 6 may have been revealed completely under fans’ noses.
Fans began to speculate that the “Us cops, we gotta protect each other” line could be a key piece of the puzzle, especially given rumors that Jason is an undercover police officer.
Others wondered if the heist mission with Raul Bautista could be more integral to the plot than just a big action set piece.
In any case, we won’t know for sure until GTA 6 finally releases. But until then, expect to see plenty more speculation as discoveries as fans continue to put pieces together.
