Fortnite will let players explore virtual Disney parks

Disney’s investing billions and Fortnite’s building castles. Fortnite‘s Magic Kingdom is going pixelated and playable, coming 2026.

In early 2024, Disney casually tossed $1.5 billion into Epic Games like it was pocket change. This wasn’t for a few new skins or Star Wars lightsabers. The goal was to build a fully immersive, player-driven Disney universe inside Fortnite. Not just cosmetics or limited-time events.

Now, at Epic’s State of Unreal showcase, fans got a flashy sneak peek at Magic Kingdom looking magically Fortnite-ified.

Welcome to Fortnite’s Mouse-verse

By the looks of it, they want an entire Disney universe inside Fortnite. Magic Kingdom and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, all powered by Unreal Engine.

As we’ve come to discover through interviews and showcases, this will be a whole ecosystem where you can build, explore, stream shows, shop, and socialize, all with a Disney twist.

When asked if Mickey Mouse would be wielding an AK-47 in Fortnite, Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, called it “an entirely new entertainment universe,” which means Mickey just packed his bags for the metaverse.

In other words, we won’t be seeing Disney princesses wield lightsabers or katanas anytime soon. Instead, we’ll get a new game mode like Brick Life and Fortnite Festival that’s all about the Disney experience in Fortnite.

Disney and Fortnite fans are confused. “What is the point in making a virtual Disney World?” one asked. “Do they think it would be as fun as going to Disney World in real life?”

And of course, the internet’s eternal rally cry: “Where we dropping boys?”

Not much has been revealed besides the visuals, but we’re not sure if a battle bus will be involved. Epic teased connections to real-life Disney parks, including Marvel-themed ones.

The catch is you’ll be waiting till 2026 to ride this Tron cycle.

Meanwhile, Fortnite’s keeping busy. AI-powered NPCs are coming. A Squid Game collab looms. And Epic’s throwing more IPs at players than a comic-con merch booth.
