Fortnite Death Star Sabotage live event date & everything we know

The Star Wars season in Fortnite is set to culminate with the Death Star Sabotage live event, giving players the chance to defeat the Empire once and for all.

Fortnite is in the middle of its biggest Star Wars crossover to date, as the franchise has completely taken over the map in recent weeks. The island is full of iconic POIs to discover, and new characters have been dropping regularly as skins, including Darth Jar Jar and General Grievous.

Each week of the Star Wars season has featured a different theme, but it’s all been building to the live event that’s going to bring it to an end. So, here’s everything you need to know about the Death Star Sabotage event, including when it starts and what to expect.

Fortnite Death Star Sabotage date & time

The live event is due to start on Saturday, June 7, 2025, as confirmed by the schedule shared by Epic Games. According to leaks, it will get underway at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 8 PM BST, with normal matches being disabled 30 minutes before.

It hasn’t been confirmed how long it will last, but players should expect some downtime straight after, as Chapter 6 Season 3 is likely to begin on either the same day or the following day.

How to play

Based on previous live events, you’ll be able to play Death Star Sabotage by simply playing Fortnite at the right time. Some of these live spectacles take place naturally within the matches themselves, while others are given their own designated playlist that can be accessed from the main menu.

Since this one was announced pretty far in advance, and given that it’s expected to be one of the bigger events we’ve seen, it’s likely to be the latter. Don’t worry, though, leaks have revealed that normal matchmaking will be turned off before the event, so there’s no confusion.

In the past, live events have also been available for a few days later, giving anyone who missed out, or just wants to experience it again, the chance to see it.

What to expect

Although very little has been revealed about the event, there are plenty of hints and teasers that might shed some light on what’s in store — and it’s more than just a cutscene.

From the name alone, players will likely be taking part in an assault on the Death Star that has been floating above the map all season. In-game dialogue from Princess Leia reveals that she has been gathering allies to help the Rebellion.

It remains to be seen exactly how this will play out, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if players are asked to attack the giant ship in an X-Wing, much like Luke Skywalker’s trench run in A New Hope.

It’s also worth noting that the Frozen Portal, which played a key role in Chapter 6 Season 1’s finale, has been rebuilt on the mountain near Masked Meadow and Canyon Crossing, and is firing a beam of light into the sky. It’s expected that this will be how the Star Destroyer will appear on the map, which will also likely play a key role in Death Star Sabotage.

We’ll be sure to update this page with a full breakdown of how it works as soon as it’s officially confirmed. The May 29 update will add plenty of files relating to the event, so it shouldn’t be long before dataminers get a clearer picture of what’s to come.

In the meantime, take a look at all of the story quests left to complete and the best guns to carry you to victory.
