Recent DNA tests have confirmed that a body recovered from Lake Yahud is not that of Wajir MCA Yusuf Hussein Ahmed.
The family received this news on Thursday after pathologists conducted tests and reported negative results.
Yusuf Hussein Ahmed went missing on September 13, reportedly after being abducted in Nairobi by unknown assailants. His disappearance ledto tensions and protests against security agencies in Wajir when earlier reports suggested his body had been found.
Two pathologists were involved in the DNA testing process: one hired by the family and another from the government.
They collected samples from Ahmed’s mother and two brothers, along with tissue from the unidentified body at the Wajir Hospital Mortuary. The results confirmed that the body, measuring six feet two inches and of Somali origin, does not belong to the missing MCA.
The unidentified body showed signs of blunt force trauma to the face, which caused internal bleeding in the head. Although the body was not burned and no parts were missing, decomposition made some areas appear severely damaged.
Adding to the mystery, earlier claims that the MCA was summoned by the Wajir County Security and Intelligence Committee have been denied by County Commissioner Karuku Ngumo.
Despite a letter purportedly signed by him requesting Ahmed’s presence to discuss security issues, Ngumo refuted these claims.
The identity of the body in the mortuary remains unknown,
