X Factor fans are shocked to discover Katie Waissel has appeared in two episodes of US reality show Vanderpump Rules

Katie Waissel shot to fame on The X Factor and starred on Celebrity Big Brother.

But fans have been shocked to discover that the Brit has also appeared on a major US reality show.

A fan who was enjoying a watch of a 2015 episode of Vanderpump Rules spotted Katie, 37, in one scene.

Posting on Twitter this week the gobsmacked Vanderpump fan exclaimed: ‘sorry what the f**k is katie waissel from x factor doing working as office manager in the tattoo removal place in this ep of vanderpump rules????’

Katie in fact cameoed in two episodes of the Bravo show, appearing in her real-life office manager role at a tattoo removal company in LA.

Before that she attended main cast member Scheana Shay’s 30th birthday party where she was introduced as Kristen Doute’s friend.

After starring on The X Factor in 2010, Katie moved to Los Angeles in 2013.

Her short time in the US also saw her get married and divorced within a matter of weeks.

She tied the knot with model Brad Alphonso in an intimate ceremony in New Orleans in September 2012 – just 16 weeks after the couple first met.

However, the marriage ended just two months later following a series of ‘horrific rows.’

She eventually moved back to the UK, starring on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016 and becoming a mum in 2018 to her son Hudson.

The singer has previously claimed that her stint on The X Factor back in 2010 ‘ruined her life’

Katie was a contestant on the most watched season of the X Factor in 2010, singing to some 14 million people in their living rooms each week.

Throughout the course of the singing competition, Katie said she received acid attack and death threats, and suffered both panic attacks and suicidal thoughts.

Speaking to the Times in January, Katie said she has since sought therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder following her time on the show.

After retraining in law, Katie said in January that she is suing Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, the production company behind the talent show, for breach of duty of care.

Katie has also founded the OWHL Foundation to help others who have experienced a similar situation to her. On its website, the foundation says it aims to ‘oversee the welfare, human rights and liberty within the creative industry sector’.

Looking back through contracts she signed during her time on the X Factor, she told the Times: ‘There are so many of us who have been so trapped and it’s not fair, there was a huge imbalance in power.’

This motivated her to want to understand how the contracts worked so that she could help other people ‘from being manipulated in the future,’ she said.
