WWE star Mark ‘The Undertaker’ Calaway is heading to Australia for ‘intimate’ wrestling appearance following retirement

WWE star Mark ‘The Undertaker’ Calaway is headed Down Under next year as a drawcard for an extravagant wrestling show to be held in Western Australia.

The wrestling legend, 58, will appear at the WWE’s Elimination Chamber extravaganza show at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Saturday, February 24.

It is expected that the retired wrestling icon’s appearance at the iconic WWE show will bring many of the sport’s fans to Western Australia next year.

As he is retired, it is unlikely The Undertaker will be wrestling at the show and it is expected he will share stories about his career with the audience, reports The Sunday Times.

‘It’s very intimate and there are no phones allowed. I want this to be special for the people who go out and buy these tickets,’ Calaway said in a statement.

‘I have stories of my debut and some of the things that were going on backstage the night I debuted. Anything from backstage, things that happened, I tell stories of things that happened with me and Hulk Hogan.’

Western Australia Premier Roger Cook announced on Thursday his state had secured the iconic WWE event, saying it will put WA on the ‘world stage’.

While it’s unclear what other WWE stars will be heading to the country to the event, it will likely be headlined by Adelaide-born wrestling star Rhea Ripley, 26.

Ripley debuted as a main member of the main roster in WWE in 2021 and has risen to fame ever since, enjoying individual and tag team title reigns and remaining a member of the villainous faction The Judgement Day.

Also rumoured to be joining the show is Grayson Waller, 33, who is from Sydney and was called up to the main roster earlier this year.

Other Australian stars in the company include Bronson Reed and Indi Hartwell.

The Elimination Chamber traditionally sees matches involving six competitors or teams in the match, with two starting inside the ring with four more locked in pods around it.

At regular intervals a different pod is opened, with that competitor entering the match until all six of them have been introduced.

Performers are eliminated one at a time and the winner is the last one standing at the end of the match, with the result often being that they will be crowned champion of whatever title is on the line.

The early assumption is that Ripley will defend her title in an Elimination Chamber match in her home country.

Character: For several years he dominated the WWE ring as The Undertaker and cut a sinister figure with his long leather coat, wide-brimmed hat and menacing stare
