A woman was hurried to hospital after she fell through a significant part of Blackpool’s Central Pier, sparking fears for her life.
The unidentified woman was on the pier when she fell to the ground. The extent of her injuries remains unknown, but she was immediately transported to hospital.
Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire crews, arrived at the scene around 4.30pm. The pier was evacuated and cordoned off as paramedics attended to the woman.

A witness, who was at the Blackpool beach with his children, recounted to Manchester Evening News: “I was walking with my kids when I heard a massive thud. A woman had fallen through the Central Pier, nearly hitting me. It was terrifying… I thought she was dead.”
Many horrified onlookers, some with their children, saw the incident unfold as emergency crews assisted the woman. She seemed to have fallen through a section of the pier and landed on the beach below.
Specialist beach patrol units also responded to the scene, where a large hole was left in the wooden structure. Details of her injuries have not yet been confirmed.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson stated, “We received a report of a woman falling through a section of the pier in Blackpool around 4.30pm. She has been taken to hospital with injuries. The pier is currently closed.”
