WILLIS RABURU: I COULD BARELY FIT IN AN AIRPLANE SEAT OR TOILET AT 165KG

Media personality Willis Raburu has opened up about his journey with weight loss and the challenges he faced while being overweight.

In a candid social media post, Raburu shared a photo of himself seated on an airplane toilet seat, recalling a time when his weight made everyday tasks difficult.

“Once upon a time, I was 165kg, and I could barely fit on an airplane seat, let alone use the loo,” he wrote.

The father of two described how embarrassing it was, especially when body shaming, both online and offline, hit hard.

Raburu, who now weighs around 115kg, expressed pride in the progress he has made. He acknowledged that despite plateauing at times, he is “surely not where I used to be.”

Raburu also spoke about his past struggles with emotional eating. “I used to eat 6 to 8 chapatis or up to 8 pieces of fried chicken at a go,” he once admitted.

While weight-loss surgery is a popular trend among celebrities, Raburu emphasized that he underwent the same for health rather than aesthetics or popularity reasons.

Before opting for surgery, his weight had caused health problems, including high blood pressure and cholesterol.

How much did Willis Raburu Bariatric Surgery Cost?

Raburu credited Nairobi Bariatric for supporting his journey and urged insurance companies to make weight-loss surgeries more accessible.

The cost of bariatric surgery in Kenya ranges between Sh600,000 and Sh900,000, and Raburu emphasized that lifestyle changes are essential afterward.

His message to others facing similar struggles was clear: “No matter what you choose to do to get fit and lose weight… your body is your biggest investment.”

Raburu’s openness about his journey continues to inspire many, as he concludes, “I’m rooting for you, and I’m proud of your efforts. Keep moving.”
