The events leading up to Ayieko’s death appear to have started on Friday, October 21, when he attended a funeral in Nyaminia village, Siaya.

Ayieko, who was due to attend another function in Kakamega seemed jovial as per a picture taken at the funeral.

At around 10 p.m., Ayieko left the gathering, reportedly en route to Nyabeda center, some 13 kilometers away.

Soon after, Ayieko’s movements grew mysterious. Police believe his car, which may have included his abductors at this point, moved between several local centers: Regea, Nyamninia, and Muhanda.

At Dudi center, Ayieko’s vehicle remained parked between 11:57 p.m. and 3:44 a.m. on Saturday, raising questions about what might have occurred there.

Shortly after, the car was seen circling back to Regea for an eight-minute stop, marking the last time police were able to trace Ayieko’s phone signal.

By dawn, CCTV footage captured his car being driven toward Kakamega.

And around 6 a.m., the vehicle, carrying two men, diverted toward Sabatia center, where it was eventually abandoned, free of blood evidence but missing Ayieko’s pistol.

Ayieko’s body was found later by a local child, abandoned by the Mungowere stream with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Brutal wounds, including missing ears and a disfigured face, points to a horrifying ordeal before his death.

His brother, Aggrey Onyango, voiced the family’s anguish, describing the murder as a “painful death” and questioning why and who would have orchestrated such a brutal act.

The family has since moved the body of Willis Ayieko to Lee Funeral Home, hoping justice will follow swiftly.
