Washington Commanders left tackle Charles Leno Jr. did not play in the 24-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons after his wife posted on social media Sunday that she had suffered a miscarriage .
“Last night our baby girl, Paitynn Maui Leno, unexpectedly gained her wings,” said his wife Jen Leno. posted on X.
“She came into the world just like her big sisters, fast and fierce and was such a fighter. Thank you to everyone who has poured so much love and prayer into us throughout this journey. Rest in peace, my sweet daughter.
The couple has three daughters and Paitynn is expected to be born in the spring, ESPN reported.
Following the match his wife posted another tweet which said: “Today was such a surreal day. I felt like my world had stopped and everything was still spinning.

Jen announced the miscarriage on X with another tweet following the Commanders’ victory
“Thank you to our commander family for the support, love and for taking such great care of us today during these difficult times. In my mind, that W was for you, little girl.
Washington, now 3-3, declared Leno inactive for Sunday afternoon’s game due to a non-injury-related personal matter.
Leno, 32, is in his third season with Washington and has started all 39 games he has played, including the first five this season.
He was selected by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft and played in 102 games (94 starts) from 2014 to 2020.
The Commanders earned the victory after linebacker Jamin Davis threw his third interception of the second half against Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder.
