Victoria Beckham admits she’s earned a reputation as ‘a miserable cow’ as former Spice Girl reveals the ONE major change she’s noticed about herself since hitting 50

For some, the prospect of growing older is a sobering thought.

Not so for Victoria Beckham, whose milestone 50th birthday culminated in a raucous private party surrounded by A-list friends and family at Oswalds, an exclusive members-only club, in Mayfair.

The former Spice Girl, famous for her signature pout, admits that the only thing that has changed over the years is her increasingly positive appearance – an indication that age and experience have made her more comfortable with the pressures of fame.

She said Sunday Times style: ‘I was looking at some photos of myself recently and was really impressed with how happy I looked.

‘I used to always look at those red carpet photos of me and see a woman who looked nervous and insecure. Everyone else saw a woman who looked grumpy and stern – I suppose that’s why I got the reputation of being such a miserable cow.’

For some, the prospect of growing older is a sobering thought. This does not apply to Victoria Beckham, who says she is less nervous and insecure than in her younger years

Now a successful fashion designer with an established global brand, Victoria has a philosophical view on turning 50 as she looks forward to what lies ahead.

“I’m excited about the future,” she said. “The thing about getting older is that it is what it is.

‘I always remember Marc Jacobs saying to me when he was sixty that it was better than the alternative of not turning sixty. That’s good advice!

“But overall I feel good about things. I have better opportunities now than when I was younger.’

Victoria spent a week of near-constant celebrations after turning in her 50th year on April 17, with husband David taking her to the south of France on a private jet.

The fashion designer and the retired footballer, 48, then took a chauffeured car to a £200-per-head restaurant in Saint-Paul de Vence on the French Riviera, believed to be the famous La Colombe d’Or.

The couple were said to be accompanied by their four children, along with Victoria’s parents Jackie and Tony, and were later flown back to Luton Airport.

A source said The sun: ‘David chose an incredibly remote location.

‘The restaurant regularly hosts A-list celebrities during the Cannes Film Festival, so no Riviera resident bats an eye when they see a celebrity.

‘Victoria had a wonderful afternoon of good wine, enjoying the sun outside, overlooking the Mediterranean and enjoying her favorite white fish.’

Paying tribute to his wife in an Instagram post, David wrote: ‘Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife… As you approach this birthday, look back and be proud of what you have accomplished, achieved and what you have built, Posh Spice , businesswoman and of course marrying an English captain.’

“But your greatest success is your children, you guide them, love them and teach them… They love you more than words, we all love you so much.”
