Brisbane residents now have the chance to visit a daring ‘vertical restaurant’ where diners must take on challenges in order to eat four stories in the air.
Vertigo has opened on the rooftop of Brisbane’s Powerhouseinviting diners to hang over a 17-meter point on the side of the building’s industrial facade.
Although the meal can be daring, those who want to enjoy the fine dining experience with a view of the city skyline have to jump through a few hoops.
Diners must be fitted with a full body harness and breath tested before being taken to the top of the building for the daring meal.

While diners should be sober before entering the restaurant, alcohol can be ordered with the meal.
“The selection in my country was probably the scariest part, I don’t think I really realized how high we were going to be,” Brisbane influencer Ebony said of the TikTok experience.
Customers are given a lanyard for their phones to prevent them from falling and even cutlery should be secured to avoid any mishaps.
Diners can choose to climb down the Powerhouse after their meal or jump off the side of the building, with their harness to slow them down before they reach the ground.
While there has been enthusiasm for the ‘daring’ meal, some foodies have balked at the couple’s $500 price tag for the dining experience, calling it ‘ridiculous’ and ‘outrageous’.
‘500 dollars so? We could do a lot more in two days with this,” said one person.
“I don’t like wearing armor for work, much less paying for the pleasure,” wrote another.
It is hoped the new restaurant will attract more tourists to the Sunshine State, according to Mayor Adrin Schrinner.

“This new experience is perfect for Brisbane and combines all the attributes we are known for – great food, a beautiful city, a modern cultural scene and a sense of adventure,” Schrinner said.
“I have no doubt Vertigo will attract visitors from around the world to experience the best of Brisbane.”
The restaurant is one of the initiatives supported by the Queensland Government’s $15 million Tourism Experience Development (TED) Fund, according to Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe.
“This is one of 50 new and reimagined visitor experiences we’re investing in through TED to grow the visitor economy and deliver more than 900 good construction and tourism jobs,” he said.
