Two men are shot dead and six others wounded at Memphis block party as wild footage shows black Corvette doing burnouts moments before gunshots send residents fleeing for their lives

Two men were shot and killed and six others were injured after a mass shooting broke out at a block party in Memphis.

Memphis Police responded to emergency calls from a park on Carnes Avenue near Mound Street today at 7:19 p.m.

They arrived to find five victims on the scene, two of whom were pronounced dead, while the three others were immediately taken to hospital.

Officials said 11 other victims arrived at the hospital in private vehicles shortly afterward.

Footage shows people desperately running for their lives, with one person shouting: “God, they’re going to kill us” moments after the suspect started shooting.

Earlier today, about 200 to 300 people attended the block party, which took place without a valid permit, according to interim Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis.

Videos of the party that have since emerged show a black Corvette making donuts as a large number of people cheer.

Officials have not yet identified any victims or suspects involved in the incident.

The police currently assume that two people shot at the party.
