First daughter Charlene Ruto has flagged as fake a document purporting to be a gazette notice indicating her appointment as the chairperson of the National Mining Corporation for a fixed term of three years.

Charlene said mining was the least of her interests and that those spreading the false document lacked an understanding of President William Ruto in his commitment to equal opportunity in employment opportunities.

Guys…c’mon…seriously?? Tuwache fake news! And looks like whoever is pushing this doesn’t know President William Ruto. He believes in giving equal, fair and transparent leadership opportunities to as many Kenyans as possible, so trust me, this he would not do. Na mining tena? Not even youth? Or agriculture? Just so that you know it is really fake,” Charlene stated on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Charlene’s startups

She said that she was heavily invested in her two startups where one deals in mechanised agricultural solutions with a bias towards sustainability while the other focuses on youth empowerment initiatives.

“I didn’t wait for anyone to give me an appointment or position, I am creating my own path Plus…my name is Chelagat, not Chelangat Don’t support this propaganda,” Charlene added.

With an active social media presence, Charlene has always been unafraid to communicate her stand on topical issues in the country.

At the height of the demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024, Charlene stated that she was alive to the day-to-day struggles of the common Gen Z and called for dialogue to resolve the contentious tax matters before the bill was withdrawn.

She also rallied a group of university student leaders in a meeting which set to establish the pressing concerns of the average youth in the country and brainstorm potential solutions.

In the X Spaces virtual interaction between Ruto and the protesters, Charlene was at the forefront calling for the youth to participate in the forum.

She later came up with a report which she said she had submitted to Ruto for consideration.

“Taken time to go through and reflect on your comments from my last post where I requested feedback and thoughts on #EngageThePresident Thank you for sharing your insights. Much appreciated. Feedback has been shared,” Charlene said on X on July 10, 2024.
