Travis Kelce has revealed that he and Taylor Swift had been dating for a month ahead of her first appearance in a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears in September, when he described his relationship with the pop star as a “beautiful thing.”

The 34-year-old tight end made a guest appearance on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday before flying to Las Vegas four days later for Super Bowl preparations.

Kelce had already told McAfee — a former Colts punter — that he won’t be able to walk the Grammys red carpet in LA on Sunday, and when asked if he and Taylor knew each other before the first sight of her at Arrowhead Stadium, four months ago, Chiefs No. 87 confirmed that was the case.

“We had known each other for almost a month up until that point,” Kelce said.

“It didn’t just come out of nowhere: ‘Hey, come to the game.’

While reflecting on the hate and criticism from fans at the beginning of his relationship with Taylor, which began last summer, Kelce — a two-time Super Bowl champion — preferred to keep a simple view of love.

“It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it,” he said of his romance with the singer. “And hopefully everyone realizes that we are two people in a relationship who support each other and enjoy it. It’s nothing more than that.

“As much as the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we’re just having fun with it. And we just enjoy it. We just enjoy every bit of it.

‘Yes, I love it when Taylor comes to support me and enjoy the game with family and friends. It’s been a great year, man.’

Kelce also expressed his happiness that Taylor was on the Chiefs wagon heading to the Super Bowl. As if that wasn’t evident from their hug on the field after the AFC title game.

On the latest episode of their “New Heights” podcast, the Chiefs tight end and his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, joked about how the 12-time Grammy winner came along at just the right time, in the fall of the start of the football season.

“Shout out to the newest member of the Chiefs Kingdom, Swift, who officially reached the Super Bowl in her rookie year,” Jason Kelce said on the podcast released Wednesday, before Travis added with a laugh, “Shout out to Tay. Thanks for joining the team.”

Whether Swift makes it to the Super Bowl against the 49ers on February 11 in Sin City remains to be seen.

Swift will resume her Eras Tour next week with four shows in Tokyo. The final is scheduled for Saturday evening and should end around 10pm local time, or around 5am in Las Vegas. If she were to take a private plane between the two cities, Swift could cover the distance in about twelve hours, giving her plenty of time to reach Allegiant Stadium before kickoff.
