Trailblazers ‘AXED after just one season following hosts Mel B and Emily Atack’s ‘frosty relationship’ and ‘tense argument’ during filming’

BBC Adventure show Trailblazers has reportedly been axed after one season due to the clash between presenters Mel B and Emily Atack during filming.

The 2002 series, which was also hosted by Ruby Wax, followed the trio as they followed the footsteps of Victorian explorer Isabella Bird through the Rocky Mountains.

The mirror reports that Mel, 43, and Emily 34, had a ‘frosty’ relationship which led to a ‘tense’ row while filming in the US.

A source told the publication: “Once on set, their personalities definitely clashed and there was one argument that was witnessed by several crew members. There was no going back from that at the time.’

Filming surf was incredibly difficult as the trio undertook tough physical challenges during the 800-mile journey.

While a second claimed the BBC had hoped to recreate the on-screen chemistry of Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix.

Saying, “Because Mel and Emily really didn’t get along, it was hard to get that natural chemistry going. There were high expectations for the show, but it won’t be back.’

However, the pair appeared to have put their difficulties behind them, with the first source adding: ‘It was a bit of a pressure cooker environment but Mel and Emily have been seeing each other since and things have been going well between them.’

MailOnline has contacted BBC representatives Emily Atack and Mel B for comment.

During filming, Emily, Mel and Ruby went to a western bar in Aspen where they recreated a scene from Coyote Ugly.

The Inbetweeners star and Ruby both wore cowboy hats and sunglasses as they twirled among the smoke machines for local pubgoers.

But a sober Mel B documented the whole thing to her 1.5 million followers and admitted her co-stars “embarrassed her on a school night” via her Instagram Story.

While promoting the series, the trio’s interview on The One Show descended into chaos.

According to reports, Mel, 43, and Emily 34, had a 'frosty' relationship which led to a 'tense' row while filming in the US.

During part of the conversation about horse riding, Mel and Ruby, who recently did Celebrity Gogglebox together, rolled around on the sofa and were all talking over each other – before Mel even jokingly stormed off the set.

Host Alex Jones looked on in amazement as the group spoke to each other, laughing and joking – while co-host Ronan Keating couldn’t help but giggle.

And after the women left the studio, Alex couldn’t help but joke, “Oh, it feels a lot calmer in the studio now!”

Mel also jokingly stormed off the set at one point after being interrupted.

Just before Ruby could be heard telling presenters Alex and Ronan Kemp: “We were chasing the American dream and then things went wrong.”

Mel then quipped back sharply, “Just like this interview!”

Former X Factor judge Mel then said ‘don’t forget to tune in on Monday guys’ before brazenly trying to storm the set.

Her co-stars then led her back to her seat when Mel could be heard saying: “She said we had to go.”
