Tiger Woods has banned himself from having sex until after the Masters.
A friend of Woods told me The New York Post: ‘He works very hard in the gym. He eats well. He even eliminated sex.
‘That’s what he does now when he’s preparing: no sex until the tournament is over. He doesn’t want anything to take away his focus.”
The 48-year-old is currently single after an acrimonious split with ex-girlfriend Erica Herman last year.
The Masters will be held April 11-14 and Woods flew to Georgia last week for a practice round ahead of the tournament he has won five times.
It came days after Woods was reunited with his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, at a ceremony for their son Charlie, who won a state high school golf championship in Florida.
Woods, 48, was married to Swedish model Nordegren, 44, for six years before divorcing in 2010 when the golf legend’s infamous cheating left their marriage in shambles.
Before going their separate ways, they welcomed two children together in Charlie, now 15, and daughter Samantha, 16 – with Nordegren having a fourth son, Arthur, with former NFL star Jordan Cameron in December 2019.
The ex-couple’s reunion comes after Woods’ former agent Hughes Norton opened up about his old client and recalled his “zombie-like” approach to ending relationships.
Ahead of the release of his tell-all book, Rainmaker, which hit shelves in the US on March 26, Norton spoke to Mail Sport about understanding his meteoric rise and abrupt fall – which ended when Woods fired him in 1998.
“The consolation I can find, which doesn’t amount to much, is this: He was an equal opportunity zombie with relationships, his swing coaches, his lawyer, the guy who negotiated the IMG representation deal, with caddies,” he said about the 15-time big winner. ‘When it’s over, it’s over.
“It’s the way he ends relationships with everyone. Whether they are girlfriends, or they are his former golf coaches.
‘It’s actually ironic. In a way, he’s so good at confrontation on the golf course. When he plays you, he beats your brains out every time.
“But when it comes to confronting things like me and other people in his life, he has no social skills whatsoever. It’s actually maddening.’
Last November, Erica Herman, Woods’ ex-girlfriend of five years, dropped legal action against the golfer, saying she was not a victim of sexual abuse during her time with him.
Woods last played golf at the Genesis Open in Riviera in mid-February, but withdrew midway through due to stomach problems, which were later confirmed to be the flu.
At last year’s tournament in Augusta, Woods withdrew due to issues with plantar fasciitis and subsequently underwent surgery in New York.
