A host of recognizable faces were present at the celebrations as Italian side Como were promoted to Serie A.

Just five years ago, the club was languishing in the fourth tier of Italian football, having recovered from bankruptcy, before undergoing one of the most remarkable revivals in recent history.

In 2022, World Cup-winning midfielder Cesc Fabregas arrived at the club on a free transfer from Monaco, where he played the final season of his illustrious career with the club before becoming assistant manager and co-owner this season.

With Welshman Osian Roberts at the helm, Como recovered from a stuttering start to the season to finish the campaign unbeaten for nine games, securing automatic promotion to the top flight with a 1-1 draw against Cosenza on Friday.

Thierry Henry, who joined Fabregas as one of the club’s co-owners, was in attendance at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, with Leicester striker Jamie Vardy also watching from the stands.
