Thiago Silva has apologized for his tackle at the end of Chelsea’s win over Luton in which he swept away a cameraman.

The Brazilian defender was visibly disgruntled at the final whistle as Chelsea almost threw away a commanding 3-0 lead to eventually win 3-2 at Kenilworth Road.

Silva was not happy that a cameraman from broadcaster TNT Sport was near him, waving him away as he stood in the middle of the field.

He was then filmed talking to teammate Enzo Fernandez, with captain Conor Gallagher within earshot of them.

The 39-year-old was left disgruntled after strikes from Luton’s Ross Barkley and Elijah Adebayo in the final 10 minutes kept Chelsea in side after Cole Palmer’s earlier double either side of a Noni Madueke goal had put them in control.

Silva felt the need to apologize for his behavior in an Instagram post on Saturday evening, in which he referenced the disappointment of Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at Wolves on Christmas Eve.

“Every professional athlete will always push themselves harder and think they can do better,” he wrote.

‘In a competitive league it is the details that earn three points. I just didn’t want to spend New Year’s like I did Christmas. Sorry.’

However, Silva did have a smile on his face as he cheered on the Chelsea fans who made the trip to Luton and posed for photos.

He later wrote in another Instagram post, “But after I saw my kids laughing, I was happy too! No one shows that.’

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino saw Silva’s emotions as something positive.

“Thiago is like that.” He told TNT Sport. ‘He’s always moaning and never happy – but that’s okay.

‘He is 39 years old and still playing. I think sometimes we are present on the pitch, but sometimes it was the little details.
