Alyssa Farah Griffin is not fazed by her The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg’s recent blunt question about whether she was pregnant.

Goldberg, 67, left her co-stars with their jaws on the floor on Thursday after she asked Alyssa, 34, point blank if she was pregnant – prompting a swift denial.

Griffin shared that she took the question as a ‘compliment’ and defended Goldberg’s awkward curiosity – prompted by her noticing ‘a glow’ on Alyssa – on the Behind the Table podcast.

‘Whoopi, she thinks out loud sometimes, and I chose to take it as a compliment — that I’m glowing,’ she said, adding of her co-host, ‘She’s so sweet.’

She did, however, admit that the timing of the question was less-than-ideal, as her mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law happened to be in the front row watching her that day.

‘If there are two people in my life who want me to be pregnant today more than anyone it’s them, so just the most fortuitous timing,’ she stated.

Griffin also shared that Goldberg apologized to her: ‘At the break, she was apologizing to me and giving me the heart sign,’ she revealed.

Meanwhile The View’s producer Brian Teta revealed what Goldberg told him following the incident.

‘Whoopi said to me after, she’s like, “It just came over me, I don’t know what happened. It was like a vision,” and she felt that it just came out of her,’ he stated.

Griffin then said: ‘That’s what makes the show fun. It’s completely unpredictable. I thought we were talking about Mitt Romney but then we were talking about my pregnancy plans of the future — which just again, headline news, I am not pregnant at this time.’

Griffin also chuckled while singing praises to her makeup artist for making her face ‘look like it was glowing’ that day.

The former White House director of strategic communications continued laughing off the situation, as she told Teta: ‘I literally was getting texts on the commercial break from reporters like, “Do you care to respond to this?”‘

‘I used to take questions about like, there was a missile attack in Afghanistan and now I’m like, “No, I’m not going to comment on my fake pregnancy right now.”‘

Griffin added that when she has a pregnancy announcement, she will promptly inform Whoopi.

‘I’ll be sure to blurt it out, if and when I am pregnant. I will definitely interrupt Whoopi to inform her,’ she said.

She finished the discussion by saying that Goldberg is usually the one who warns her about revealing too much personal information away.

‘I guarantee if I actually told her privately that I was pregnant, her advice would be, “Wait ‘til you’re ready to tell people.” So that’s the funniest thing about it,’ she said. ‘She would never just shout it on air. But listen, that’s what makes the show interesting.’

Goldberg derailed the ABC program on Thursday when she popped the daring question, which came unprompted, right in the middle of a discussion about Mitt Romney’s resignation.

A stunned Alyssa let out an audible gasp and looked visibly shocked before quickly shutting down the speculation.

‘No! Oh my God!’ she insisted. ‘You can’t say that in front of my mother-in-law. Why? Do I look pregnant?’

‘Yes,’ Whoopi responded. ‘I just got a vibe.’

‘Please don’t say it’s my tummy!’ Alyssa laughed, prompting an apology from her colleague. ‘I’m so sorry’.

Sunny Hostin, 54, then asked the group whether they could take bets, which gave way to Alyssa admitting that she and her husband Justin Griffin are vying to start a family together.

‘I’m very open to being pregnant soon,’ she shared. ‘I’m not blessed to be pregnant yet.’

‘Forgive me,’ Whoopi returned. ‘I see a glow.’

‘I’ll take a test when I get home just to be sure,’ Alyssa promised, before swiftly moving the conversation back to politics.

Viewers were equally stunned by Whoopi’s outburst, with one branding the question ‘uncouth’.

Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, another said: ‘Why the hell did Whoopi randomly ask Alyssa if she’s pregnant???’

Alyssa married her husband Justin in November 2021, one year after he proposed. Members of her family, including her father and stepmother, boycotted her wedding because of her differences with Donald Trump.

While Alyssa does not have any children, she revealed on the show last month that she does want to be a mom – despite previously being unsure.

‘For me, marriage…I always knew I wanted a husband,’ she told viewers. ‘I never was necessarily sure I wanted kids. I always wanted companionship.’

Clarifying her comments, she continued: ‘I was a child of divorce [which] gave me some mixed feelings about having kids, but it was when I met my husband, I was like, “Oh I also want kids”.
