Rachelle Zomers is a medical expert who regularly shares tips and tricks to ‘take your mental wellbeing to the next level’ on her TikTok account, where she has more than 513,000 followers.

Most recently, she took to the video sharing platform to explain the different activities that will help you improve your memory of events and information.

Rachelle then dove straight into the tips, starting with why it’s crucial to pay close attention.

‘Number one: get enough sleep. It is actually during the night, while we sleep, that we consolidate long-term memories.

“I recommend somewhere between eight and 10 hours a night,” she said.

Rachelle then noted that you need to move your body regularly.

She added that exercise is crucial for your brain development.

The expert explained: ‘Aerobic exercise has been shown to improve memory in both young and old adults.

‘One of the reasons for this is that it stimulates blood flow to the brain.’

As for her third tip, Rachelle said that practicing “mindfulness,” such as meditating or journaling, can be extremely beneficial to your health.

“Mindfulness has been shown to increase the thickness of the prefrontal cortex – a part of the brain associated with attention and memory,” she explained.

Rachelle added, “Number four: participate in brain-boosting activities.

‘Activities that challenge your brain, such as learning a new language or learning to play an instrument, can improve memory performance.

‘These activities stimulate the brain and can promote the growth of new neural connections.’
