Texas police find drugs hidden in Buc-ee’s plush toys

During a routine traffic stop, Texas authorities discovered drugs hidden inside plush toys of a well-known state mascot. In a statement, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office revealed that a deputy found marijuana and ecstasy inside Buc-ee’s beaver plush toys on July 31, shortly after 1 a.m. The driver had permitted the deputy to search the vehicle.

The deputy smelled marijuana in the vehicle and found the Buc-ee’s plush toys on the back seat. On inspecting the toys, the deputy noticed they had been re-stitched and contained packages of marijuana and ecstasy.

Officials reported that the marijuana weighed more than two pounds. In Texas, possessing between 4 oz. and 5 lbs. of marijuana is a felony, carrying a potential prison sentence of 180 days to 2 years and a fine of up to $10,000.

The driver, identified as Lugene Davis Jr., 47, from San Antonio, complained of chest pain after the drugs were found. Emergency medical services were called, and Davis was taken to a local hospital.
