A suspect is now in custody after a Texas deputy constable was fatally shot on his way to work, police confirmed. Deputy Maher Husseini of Harris County Constable Precinct 4 was identified as the victim on Tuesday afternoon. After a brief manhunt, authorities apprehended the suspect. Houston Police Department Chief Noe Diaz described the incident, stating that Husseini was in his personal car and had stopped at a red light when a man approached and shot him. Diaz referred to the event as a “tragic incident” and indicated that the suspect had not yet been identified. Husseini was shot multiple times, according to Diaz.
The suspect, described as a Middle Eastern male between 35 and 40 years old, stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and has dark thinning hair. His vehicle was a charcoal-gray Chevy Impala with a distinctive bumper disfigurement.
