Sydney Sweeney took a cue from her recent film Everyone But You by singing Natasha Bedingfield’s 2004 hit at karaoke this week.
The actress shared on Instagram a clip of herself and a friend performing a duet of the song, which served as the third single from the British singer’s debut studio album of the same name.
“I’m unwritten / Can’t read my mind / I’m not defined / I’m just beginning / The pen is in my hand / End is unplanned,” the ladies can be heard singing on a dance floor as the lyrics flash through a video screen just a few feet away from where the DJ stood.
While the connection between the song and the recent segment in Sweeney’s rom-com is clear, fans were stunned to realize that Sydney was dressed in a pirate costume.
“What’s a pirate’s favorite letter?” the actress, 26, wrote in the post’s caption earlier on Friday.

In the clip, the Euphoria star smiles as she moves to the groove with a microphone in hand, while her collaborator mimics her movements and vocals from just a few feet away.
For her karaoke performance, Sweeney is decked out in a black and white skirt with a black bustier and black knee-high boots.
She dresses up in pirate gear, including a long sword tied to her waist, sexy fishnet stockings, and long sheer fabric that hangs down her right side, almost touching the ground.
Of course, a true pirate look wouldn’t be complete without a cool hat popular with pirates of the old sea, on top of her blonde locks that appear to be about shoulder length.
Her friend is not quite dressed as a pirate in an all-black ensemble consisting of flared pants and a matching blouse and motorcycle boots.
Everyone But You is loosely based on Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare and also starred Glen Powell, Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet and Rachel Griffiths
The rom-com premiered in December 2023, and despite mixed reviews, it became a hit with fans at the worldwide box office, grossing $219 million while working on a budget of $25 million.
Bedingfield, now 42, saw her song enjoy a resurgence after it featured in several scenes of the film directed by Will Gluck, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ilana Wolpert.

Earlier this year, the English singer said British GQ about how Unscribe ended up in Everyone But You, including during the end credits.
“I get a lot of requests to use my different songs in films, but I love it when it’s a rom-com because I’m really a rom-com fan,” she revealed. ‘My publishers [said] it’s used a lot, and I thought, “Yeah, yeah,” and then I looked at it and wow. They told me they sang the song in every scene,” she said. It was a bop then, and it’s still a bop now.”
As for Sweeney, she would milk the sexy pirate look in the rest of her Instagram post, which also saw her in photos posing in the same skirt and bustier.
In one photo, the busty starlet has one leg on a railing, showing off her sexy stockings, as the wind blew her long red scarf into the air.
