Katie Brown only joined Sunrise earlier this year, but the roving reporter looks set for a big promotion.

Katie is currently filling in for weatherman Sam Mac during his paternity leave, but rumor has it that Katie is in line to take over as sports presenter from Mark Beretta in 2025.

According to women’s Daythe 32-year-old journalist is currently training to take over Mark’s position on the breakfast show once his contract expires.

“Katie is just a country boy who appeals to all audiences because of her no-nonsense style,” a source from the show’s production told the magazine.

“A few people behind the scenes have quietly expressed that Mark’s flashy lifestyle may not always resonate with viewers,” the insider added.

“The irony of it all is that Beretta is one of Katie’s biggest supporters and has almost been a mentor to her,” the source said.

Beretta, 57, recently signed a two-year contract extension with Sunrise.

The father-of-two originally joined the program in 2000 as co-presenter alongside Georgie Gardner, later moving into the role of sports presenter in 2004.
