Sunday blackout to affect 3 counties

Kenya Power has announced a planned blackout expected to affect three counties on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

The utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the temporary interruption.

In Nairobi County, the blackout is scheduled to occur from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting various areas. The impacted locations include Lungalunga Road, KPLC Office Donholm, Pembe Flour Mills, Lake Oil Petrol Station, Shell Petrol Station, Thames Electrical, R & R Plastics, Packaging Ltd Industrial Area, Chui Auto Springs, Biersdorf East Africa, Sasio Road, Techno Plants, and adjacent customers.

Another part of Nairobi, Babadogo, will also experience a blackout during the same hours. Areas affected include Chandaria Industries, Babadogo Primary School, Premier Industries, Steel & Alloy, Kenafric Industries Confectionary, Police Logistics, Regal Pharmaceutical, Jubilee Tissue, Kenya Seed, and nearby customers.

Kisumu County will also be affected by the planned outage from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The areas affected include Mombasa Millers, Pipeline, Sabuni Road, and adjacent customers. Notable establishments such as Breweries, Mombasa Maize Millers, Kenya Pipeline, Coca-Cola, Sea Food, Swan, Brookside, MRM, NITA, Public Works, Golf Club, NTSA, Fisheries, Usoma, Bandani, and United will be without power during this period.

In Kilifi County, the blackout will affect parts of Mtwapa, Kanamai, Kikambala, and Vipingo from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The areas impacted include Sun n Sand Beach Hotel, Fairdeal Park, Kikambala Catholic, Swati Investments, Umbrella Steel, Blue Sky, Kilifi Pearl, Kirkland, Miembe Saba, Muudzini School, Bodoni Stage, Bodoi Kwa Ng’ombe, Bodoi Primary, Salwa Kenya, Bodoi Village, Northcoast Beach Hotel, Kanamai Timboni, Mwendo Wa Panya, Salama Beach, Gurdum Villah, Safi Saana Ltd, Barani Primary, Barani Four Farm, Barani Timboni, Mtwapa Gardens, Kwa Mutua, Kwa Kariuki, Toto Dogo, Bilady, Mtwapa Primary, Baharini Primary, Kadzengo, Kitchen King, Afri Wear, Total Amkeni, Vipingo Filling Station, Madina, Pride Industries, Safe Pack, Revital EPZ, Tiger Packaging, Vipingo Industries, Jalaram Plastics, Egol Petrol Station, Shariani Town, Kuruwitu, and adjacent customers.
