“I mean, I want one of those by my side. I’ve longed for it, my father’s name,” she said, referring to her father John Thomas Doherty Jr., who died in 2010 at the age of 66.

While Weiss said, “I have such great guys to do stuff like that,” Doherty declined and explained why she couldn’t do it.

“I just think it’s okay, I don’t need it. It’s also like if you, you know, like I can’t get infections, there’s a whole, not like you get anything from the tattoo,” she explained.

Weiss joked that he wouldn’t “take you to an alley tattoo parlor” for the ink, though Doherty declined anyway.

On the podcast with Weiss — to whom she got engaged in 1995 before splitting in 1998 — she added that she is removing herself from the “rut” of life.

“For me now, I don’t want to do the drudgery in my life anymore because it’s one of the beautiful things that cancer has really taught me: to appreciate peace,” she said.

She added that she can “appreciate the fact that even though my life has been disrupted to some extent by cancer and by treatments and things like that, it has brought me so much knowledge and changed me drastically as a person.”

Doherty said her cancer diagnosis: “has changed me into a person who now values calmness.”

‘My priority right now is my mother. I know it will be hard for her if I die before her,” Doherty said.

‘Because it will be so hard for her, I want other things to become a lot easier. I don’t want her to have to deal with a lot of things. “I don’t want her to have four storage rooms full of furniture,” she said.

She added of the downsizing process, “It feels like you’re giving up something that was very special and important to you.

“But you know it’s the right thing to do and that it will give you a sense of peace and calm. Because you help the people you leave behind to have a cleaner, easier transition.”
