SENIOR COP SHOOTS HIMSELF WHILE HANDING GUN TO COLLEAGUE

A tragic incident unfolded at Kegonga police station in Kuria, Migori County, as Superintendent James Mugo Kabachia, the Kuria East Sub County Police Commander, accidentally shot himself while handling a pistol.

The fatal mishap occurred around 4 pm on Monday, July 1, during routine preparations for night operations.

Reports indicate that Superintendent Kabachia was handing a Beretta pistol to his colleague Corporal Caudence Nyangenya inside the station. And as he was conducting safety checks, the firearm discharged accidentally.

The 9mm bullet struck him in the right thigh, exiting through his buttock, severing a critical vein.

He was rushed to Kegonga Sub County Hospital and later referred to Migori County Hospital. But he succumbed to excessive bleeding upon arrival.

According to Citizen Digital, investigations into the incident are ongoing.
