A second individual has passed away following a shooting at a well-known tailgating location after a Detroit Lions game, police confirmed Monday. The altercation erupted at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Eastern Market, an open-air gathering area, as detailed by Police Chief James White. The incident occurred shortly after Tampa Bay’s 20-16 victory over the Lions at Ford Field.
Lions coach Dan Campbell expressed his sorrow, stating, “I don’t know all the details to it, but anytime that somebody loses their life, that’s a tragic thing.”
The situation intensified when one participant brandished a firearm and discharged at least two shots. Officers nearby promptly responded, apprehended the alleged shooter, and retrieved two firearms, White reported. “Tailgating, drinking and guns — they don’t mix,” White remarked to the press on Sunday.

The victims, identified as Detroit residents, were a man in his 40s and another in his 20s. A suspect from Oak Park has been detained. White explained that the clash started with a larger brawl that dispersed after a few minutes. “They reconvened a few feet away from where the initial fight started,” the chief noted. “The two fighters raised their hands as if preparing to fight again. One man from Oak Park then drew a gun and fired at least twice.”
