The Block host Scott Cam revealed on Thursday he got a good deal when he purchased one of the properties that were renovated on his show.

The TV presenter, 60, appeared on 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin and said he bought the renovated soap factory in Port Melbourne, featured on the show in 2016.

‘The soap factory was a ‘challenge house’ and we don’t auction those. The network owns it and I bought it off them,’ he told the hosts.

Daily Mail Australia previously reported Cam bought the factory, which was converted into stylish Art Deco home, for $2.2 million in 2017.

Located inside the former J. Kitchen & Sons Art Deco soap factory, the property boasts a luxurious butler’s pantry, a kitchen for entertaining and an outdoor patio.

Cam also told the radio hosts that they treat the contestants well on The Block, unlike some other reality shows.

‘We’re not like that. We try to nurture and look after them,’ he said.

The builder-turned-reality TV host was discussing the new season on The Kyle and Jackie O Show when Jackie, 48, asked how they appeased angry neighbours.

‘It’s not bad because we really beautify the street and the houses turn out to be amazing,’ Scott began.

‘People in the street were really happy. We always give them gift baskets and their own private tours and things like that.’

Kyle then quipped these kinds of perks were commonly referred to as ‘payoffs’ and Cam jokingly agreed.

Cam also revealed they rented out several houses in the street so the crew would have a unit base to work out of and gave the properties a nice do-over upon leaving.
