Flooding
On Friday night, heavy rains caused flooding in parts of Nairobi, while earlier in the morning River Nyando in Kisumu County burst its banks for the second time this year.
According to the Kenya Red Cross, the river burst its bank early on Friday, November 29, 2024, submerging homes in the villages of Kamidumbi and Panadol.
Thousands of families were displaced after River Nyando overflowed, causing flooding amid ongoing heavy rainfall in several parts of the country.
The affected families are now seeking refuge along the highway as they wait for support from the Kenya Red Cross Action Team in collaboration with the National and County Governments.
