Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks reveal plans to crack America, have shelled out on their own tour bus and hit back at their ‘bitter’ critics

For years they were relegated to making TikTok videos and small reality TV stints… but now that they’re older and wiser, Sam Thompson and Pete Wicks are ready to take on a more serious role – and they have some very strong words for anyone who doubts that.

The best friends have built a new fan base with their social media videos and hit podcast Staying Relevant.

But OG fans will know them best from Made In Chelsea, The Only Way Is Essex and Celebs Go Dating, where their friendship first blossomed when – as Sam describes – they ‘locked their eyes across the room and joined us bonded together.’

Although neither of them managed to find love in the 2019 series, they left with a strong bromance that has lasted longer than most relationships from the E4 shows.

Now they’re fast becoming Britain’s next iconic double act and have revealed their plans to ‘crack America’.

During an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Sam said: ‘We’re going to crack America!’

Pete added: “I don’t know why he thinks we’re going to crack America. Sam went to America, we worked together there and then Sam stayed an extra week to increase his profile.’

A confident Sam, who was crowned King Of The Jungle on I’m A Celebrity 2023, added: “I feel like we’re in a place now where we could be the next James Corden.”

Sam and Pete are currently on the road bringing their podcast, Staying Relevant, to life and have promised to create the banter and chaos their fans have come to expect.

Staying Relevant was launched by Sam and Pete in 2022. It recently celebrated over 5 million downloads and has repeatedly reached (and held) the coveted No. 1 comedy chart.

Fans will have the chance to see them in cities across the UK including London, Birmingham, Dublin, Plymouth, Manchester, Cardiff, Newcastle and Glasgow.

And the pair will travel in style as they spend £20,000 on a tour bus, which is wrapped in their Staying Relevant logo.

From the bus, the duo explained that they all have to follow one rule when traveling. Sam is not allowed to fuck on the bus, while Pete is not allowed to bring women on board.

Pete said, “The thing for me is I don’t really care what anyone has to say. I think it’s a shame because it’s just a bit of a bitter attitude.’

“We’ve done a few now, and if we were that bad we wouldn’t keep getting booked for them.”

Sam added: “You’re not going to say no to an opportunity, and you’re always going to have people who aren’t the biggest fans. And I know people have journalism degrees and people like me and Pete don’t, but I’m not going to say no because I don’t have that degree.”

Pete continued, “If people spent more time on themselves and not on other people, maybe they would get the work.”

And their work life together doesn’t end there, as they often film Instagram ads together and are often joined by Sam’s girlfriend Zara McDermott.

They have become famous online for pulling pranks and filming dances, with Pete’s intolerance of Sam’s fun-loving personality sending viewers into hysterics.

On why they still work so well together despite their very different personalities, Pete explained: ‘We were reaching the end of our lives together as a duo until Sam went into the jungle and I thought I could get another year out of this. .

“So that’s kind of where we are right now. Because Sam is the most relevant man in the country, I get a new lease on life. Once that wears off, I’m going to fuck off.’

Since his jungle success in Australia, Sam has become a regular on the hit ITV show This Morning. Despite the show being under fire following Phillip Schofield's affair scandal, Sam is happy to be part of the 'family'

He said: ‘I love it, I love daytime TV, I never thought I’d be lucky enough to get into it. It’s like a family. I understand that I got it because I’m a celebrity, but all I can do is gain people’s trust and hopefully succeed and do the best I can.”

Pete added cheekily, “Sam has gotten into chaos a lot this morning.”
